What a Winner!
The 2011 Diners Club Winelist Award winners for the Kwazulu Natal region were announced at an awards ceremony held at Fairmont Zimbali Resort recently.
12 restaurants came out tops in KZN and were awarded Diamond Awards, 12 Platinum Awards, 14 in the Gold category and 1 Silver Award.
One of winners were Cargo Hold Restaurant from uShaka Marine World who was awarded a Gold - this being quite an accomplishment for the restaurant where one can dine with the sharks, and who provides one of Durban's most spectacular settings offering the most unique sophisticated ambiance.
The winners were judged by an independent panel of judges whose criteria included content, balance, suitability and presentation and included the likes of Fiona McDonald former editor of Wine magazine, Clive Torr Garagiste Winemaker, Nikkie Dumas - Winestyle. Biz owner, Marc Friederich restaurant owner, and Gawie Marx chaired by respected wine convenor Dave Hughes.
Seen presenting the award was Jane Wartski, Business Service Executive from Diners Club with recipient Michael Opperman Front of House Manager from Cargo Hold.
